Pi by Inflection AI: Status, Web Use and Site Owners

Pi is a personal AI assistant from Inflection AI. Pi is still available in October 2026, and Inflection AI still runs it. Inflection documents no crawler, user agent or robots.txt token for Pi, so a site owner has no Pi rule to add.

Who runs Pi

On March 19, 2024, Microsoft said that two Inflection co-founders, Mustafa Suleyman and Karén Simonyan, were joining Microsoft. They formed a new group called Microsoft AI (Microsoft). Pi stayed with Inflection AI. On October 22, 2026, the Inflection AI website still offered Pi and described it as powered by Inflection’s own foundation models.

The Pi help center says that Pi runs on the Inflection-2 model and that users cannot choose another model (Pi help).

Web use and sources

Pi uses web content in some answers. The help center says that answers can be wrong when web content changed or when sources are not accessible (Pi help). The Daily Brief feature gives short news updates, and users can see the sources behind each story (Daily Brief FAQ).

Inflection does not say how Pi gets web pages. It publishes no user agent string and no IP list for these requests.

Training data

The Inflection Notice on Model Training lists publicly available web pages as a source of training data. The notice was last updated on December 22, 2025. It does not name a crawler and does not mention robots.txt.

What a site owner can do

You cannot target Pi in robots.txt, because Inflection publishes no token for it. You also cannot find Pi requests in your logs by user agent. To find and block AI crawlers in general, see How to find and block AI crawlers.
