# Replika: AI Companion App, Web Access and Crawlers

Replika is an AI companion app from Luka, Inc. Its help center describes a chat companion that does not search the web, and Luka documents no crawler or user agent for it. A site owner does not have to allow or block anything for Replika.

## What Replika is

Replika is a chatbot that acts as a friend, partner or mentor for its user. Luka, Inc., a software company in San Francisco, designed and built it ([terms of service](https://replika.com/legal/terms)). Replika runs as a mobile app for Android and iOS and as a web app at my.replika.com ([privacy policy](https://replika.com/legal/privacy)).

The help center says that Replika combines Luka's own large language models, third-party models and scripted dialogue ([How does Replika work?](https://help.replika.com/hc/en-us/articles/4410750221965-How-does-Replika-work)). A large language model (LLM) is an AI model that writes text. The terms say that Replika is not a healthcare or medical service.

## Web access and sources

Replika does not present itself as a search tool. The help article [Can Replika be my virtual assistant?](https://help.replika.com/hc/en-us/articles/5040453297293-Can-Replika-be-my-virtual-assistant) says these things:

- Replika does not reliably check real-time information, such as weather or news.
- It cannot access or control apps on your device, and it cannot do external tasks.
- Some answers look factual but come from patterns, not from live data.

Another help article says that Replika cannot act outside the app, even when it says that it can ([help center](https://help.replika.com/hc/en-us/articles/37172876300557-Is-my-Replika-able-to-act-outside-of-the-app-or-reprogram-itself)). The help center does not describe a web search feature or source links in answers.

## Crawlers, user agents and blocking

Luka does not publish a crawler, a user agent or IP ranges for Replika. A user agent is the name that a bot sends with each request. Because no name is documented, robots.txt has no Replika token to target.

If a request in your logs says that it comes from Replika, you cannot make sure that it is real. No published list exists to compare it with. Treat it like any other unknown bot.
