360Spider is the web crawler of 360 Search (so.com), the search engine of Qihoo 360 in China. It collects pages for the 360 web search index. If you do not want your site in 360 Search, block it in robots.txt.

User agents and robots.txt tokens

The 360 Search robots.txt help page (in Chinese) lists one crawler name for each search product:

robots.txt token 360 Search product
360Spider Web search
360Spider-Image Image search
360Spider-Video Video search

The 360 spider IP page says that every request from the crawler carries the 360Spider signature in the user agent. It gives this example:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/140.0.0.0 Safari/537.36 Edg/140.0.0.0; 360Spider

robots.txt support

360 Search supports the User-agent, Allow and Disallow lines. With Disallow, you name the files and folders that you do not want in the 360 index.

360 Search also reads its own extension, Indexpage. With this line, you tell 360 Search which pages change often, and it can crawl them more frequently. Block 360Spider in robots.txt

If you want to keep your site out of 360 web search, add this group:

User-agent: 360Spider
Disallow: /

If you also want to block the image and video crawlers, add a group for each name:

User-agent: 360Spider
Disallow: /

User-agent: 360Spider-Image
Disallow: /

User-agent: 360Spider-Video
Disallow: /

These rules apply only to 360 Search. They do not change how Baidu, Bing or Google crawl your site.

Verify 360Spider requests

360 Search says that its crawler does not support nslookup checks at this time. You cannot use a reverse DNS lookup to identify it. 360 Search asks you to compare the IP address with its published ranges instead:

42.236.10.*
42.236.12.*
42.236.17.*
42.236.101.*
180.153.236.*
180.163.220.*

The 360 spider IP page also has a link to a full IP list that you can download. 360 Search publishes its latest ranges on that page, so use the list from there.

360 Search asks site owners not to block these IP ranges by mistake. It says that a block can cause problems with crawling and indexing of your site.
