Timpibot is the web crawler of Timpi, a company registered in New Zealand. Timpi uses its index for Timpi Search and for the Timpi Data API, which it offers to AI and search teams. Timpi has not yet published crawler documentation. If you do not want Timpi to crawl your site, block Timpibot in robots.txt and on your server.

What Timpibot does

Timpi’s privacy policy says that Timpibot, its web crawler, indexes publicly accessible web content. The operator is Timpi International Ltd, according to the Timpi legal hub. The policy covers Timpi Search, Timpi Ads, the Timpi Data API and the MASQ Browser.

The Timpi Data page offers the index through an API. It names AI and LLM teams as users, for example for RAG retrieval and evaluation datasets. RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) means that an AI model reads search results before it answers.

Timpi’s knowledge base says that Collector nodes do the crawling. Community members run these nodes. A Collector works on any system and does not need a static IP address.

User-agent string

A user agent is the client name in the User-Agent HTTP header. Timpi does not publish its user-agent string. Public bot lists, such as crawler-user-agents, record these forms:

Timpibot/0.9 (+http://www.timpi.io)
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Timpibot/0.8; +http://www.timpi.io)
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Timpibot/0.9; +http://www.timpi.io)

The version number changes over time. If you match the name in logs or server rules, match Timpibot and ignore case.

Block Timpibot

robots.txt is a text file at the root of your site with rules for crawlers. The Timpi legal hub lists an “About Timpibot” page for crawler verification, opt-out signals and blocking. On October 22, 2026, that page was marked “Coming soon”. So Timpi does not yet document whether Timpibot obeys robots.txt. You can add this group:

User-agent: Timpibot
Disallow: /

If you want to make sure that the requests stop, also block them on your web server. Timpi publishes no IP list, and community members run its Collector nodes. So match the user agent, not IP addresses. This nginx example returns HTTP 403 for any user agent that contains Timpibot:

if ($http_user_agent ~* "Timpibot") {
    return 403;
}

Put the example in the server block of your site configuration, then reload nginx.

Remove pages from the Timpi index

Timpi does not say whether a robots.txt block removes pages that it already indexed. Its publisher takedown page gives a removal process:

  1. Send an email to [email protected] from an address at your domain.
  2. List the domain or the URLs that you want removed.
  3. Confirm that you have the authority to make the request for the site.

Timpi says that it acknowledges a request within 5 business days and confirms removal within 10 business days. For questions about crawler traffic, the legal hub gives the address [email protected].

Verify requests

Timpi publishes no IP list and no reverse DNS method for Timpibot. Anyone can copy a user-agent string. A match in your logs does not prove that the request came from Timpi.
