# MediSearch: AI Medical Search Engine and Its Sources

> MediSearch answers medical questions from selected scientific sources, not the open web. How it picks and cites sources, and what site owners can do.

MediSearch is an AI search engine for medical questions at medisearch.io. It answers from a set of selected sources, such as scientific articles, health guidelines and books, not from the whole web. MediSearch documents no crawler and no way for a website to join these sources. So there is nothing to allow or block in robots.txt.

## How MediSearch picks sources

The MediSearch [about page](https://medisearch.io/about) describes these steps:

1. MediSearch "first searches through millions of manually selected trustworthy sources." These include scientific articles, international health guidelines and books.
2. It filters and ranks the sources "based on criteria such as journal quality, number of citations, and relevancy."
3. It takes the most important information from the sources.
4. It writes a short answer from that information.

MediSearch says that it gives "clear references to the information it presents." If it finds no trustworthy references for a question, it says so instead of giving an answer. MediSearch says that it adds new medical publications within hours of their release.

The about page names one general health website as a source. Healthline is an optional source. MediSearch suggests it for topics with little scientific literature, and suggests excluding it for other searches.

## MediSearch API

MediSearch also sells an [API](https://medisearch.io/developers) for medical AI products. The API page lists full-text clinical guidelines and new research that it indexes daily. API customers can work with MediSearch to add their own guidelines.

## What this means for a website owner

- MediSearch documents no user agent, IP list or robots.txt token.
- MediSearch selects its sources itself. It documents no submission process for websites.
