# PimEyes: Face Search Engine, PimEyesBot and Opt-Out

> PimEyes is a face search engine that indexes faces from public web pages. How it finds images, what PimEyesBot does, and how to opt out.

PimEyes is a face search engine. A user uploads a photo of a face, and PimEyes shows public web pages with images of faces that look similar. Its crawler is named PimEyesBot, but PimEyes does not publish a user agent string or a robots.txt token for it. A person who does not want to appear in results can use the PimEyes opt-out form.

## Who runs PimEyes

The PimEyes [privacy policy](https://pimeyes.com/en/privacy-policy) (updated April 23, 2026) names EMEA Robotics LTD in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as the contact company. PimEyes does not offer API access to individuals or companies.

## How PimEyes finds images

PimEyes builds an index of face "fingerprints". A face fingerprint is a set of numbers that describes a face. PimEyes makes them from images on public websites and stores them with data about the source page. The privacy policy says:

- PimEyesBot follows the rules of each website it visits and downloads data only from sites that allow scraping. The policy does not name robots.txt.
- PimEyes avoids all known social media and social networking platforms, including professional networks.
- PimEyes does not try to identify the people in the indexed photos.
- Images in search results load through a proxy, and PimEyes keeps them for at most 30 days.

The PimEyes [FAQ](https://pimeyes.com/en/faq) says that it uses only public content that sites allow it to index.

## Opt out of PimEyes results

If you want PimEyes to remove your face from its results, use the [Opt-Out Request Form](https://pimeyes.com/en/opt-out-request-form):

1. Upload a clear photo of your face. PimEyes recommends more than one photo, from different angles.
2. Upload a scan of your ID card or passport. Cover all data except your photo.
3. Enter your email address. PimEyes sends the confirmation and the result to this address.
4. State that you are over 18 and accept the terms, then send the form.

The privacy policy also asks for a telephone number. PimEyes keeps the uploaded data for at most 96 hours to carry out the request, then deletes it. After the opt-out, images that match your face do not appear in future PimEyes results.

The opt-out does not remove an image from the website that published it. PimEyes says that it cannot take images down from other sites. Ask the owner of that site to remove the image.

## For site owners

PimEyes does not publish a user agent string, an IP list or a robots.txt token for PimEyesBot. A `User-agent: PimEyesBot` group in robots.txt is not a documented control. PimEyes says that it indexes only public content, so images behind a login are out of its scope. For a face that is already in the index, the documented control is the opt-out form. Each person must send it for their own face.

For a reverse image search that matches whole images instead of faces, see the [TinEye guide](/ai-search-engine/tineye/).
