Woebot: Mental Health Chatbot App Retired in 2025
Table of Contents
Woebot was a mental health support chatbot app from Woebot Health. Woebot Health retired the app on June 30, 2025. Woebot Health did not describe a web search feature or a crawler for Woebot, so a site owner has nothing to allow or block.
What Woebot was
Woebot was a chat app that offered support based on techniques written by experts. Woebot Health says that Woebot used natural language processing to understand what a user wrote. It then chose a technique that its writers and clinical experts had prepared (technology overview). Natural language processing (NLP) is software that interprets human language.
In an August 2023 note, Woebot Health said that its public products did not use LLMs to write replies. Its writers wrote all text with clinical oversight (AI core principles). An LLM (large language model) is an AI model that writes text. The company also says that Woebot is not a crisis service.
App retirement
The Woebot Health FAQ says that the Woebot app was retired on June 30, 2025. Since that date, nobody can create a new account or open an old one. The FAQ also gives these dates:
- July 15, 2025: the last day to ask for a transcript of your conversations.
- July 31, 2025: the date from which Woebot Health anonymized all account data.
The company site now presents the Woebot Health Platform to clinicians and health plans (solution page).
Web access and crawlers
The Woebot Health pages above describe replies that people wrote in advance. They describe no web search, browsing or source links. Woebot Health documents no crawler, user agent or IP ranges, so robots.txt has no Woebot token.
