Wysa: Mental Health Chatbot and Web Access
Table of Contents
Wysa is a mental health support chatbot from Wysa Ltd. Its replies come from rule-based chat and large language models, and its FAQ describes no web search. Wysa documents no crawler or user agent, so a site owner has nothing to allow or block.
What Wysa is
The Wysa FAQ calls the Wysa app an AI-powered space where users reflect on thoughts and feelings and learn skills for emotional wellbeing. The app runs on Android, iOS and the web. Wysa also works with employers, health systems and other organizations (wysa.com).
The FAQ says that Wysa does not give medical advice or diagnoses. It also says that Wysa is not for crisis situations or for people with severe and enduring mental health problems.
How Wysa writes replies
The FAQ says that Wysa uses a mix of rule-based algorithms and large language models. A large language model (LLM) is an AI model that writes text. Different partner organizations use different versions:
- Some versions offer mainly rule-based chat.
- Other versions mix rule-based and LLM-based chat.
Wysa also suggests exercises, for example ones based on cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness. The FAQ says that clinicians approve and test all content before release.
Web access and crawlers
The Wysa FAQ describes no web search, browsing or source links. Wysa documents no crawler, user agent or IP ranges, so robots.txt has no Wysa token. If a request in your logs says that it comes from Wysa, you cannot make sure that it is real. Treat it like any other unknown bot.
Woebot, another mental health chatbot, retired its app in 2025. See the Woebot guide.
