Lexis+ AI is the generative AI product of LexisNexis for legal research, drafting and analysis. LexisNexis renamed it Lexis+ with Protégé in February 2026. It is a commercial tool for legal professionals, not a public search engine. Its answers use LexisNexis legal content, the customer’s own documents and web sources. LexisNexis documents no crawler for it.

What Lexis+ with Protégé is

The LexisNexis product page says: “Lexis+ AI was renamed Lexis+ with Protégé in February 2026.” The product combines Protégé with LexisNexis content and workflows. Protégé is the AI assistant that LexisNexis puts in its legal products. LexisNexis notes that some materials still use the former name.

Sources it uses

The product page lists these sources:

Source What it contains
Primary law and secondary sources Case law, statutes, regulations and LexisNexis secondary sources
Practical Guidance Practice notes, annotated forms and drafting guidance for 25 practice areas
Shepard’s Citations The status and treatment of cited cases and other authorities
Web and news sources Current news and web content “when timely context is required”
The customer’s documents Files from document management systems such as iManage, SharePoint and NetDocuments

LexisNexis also offers Shepard’s Verify. This feature checks the citations in AI answers and drafts, and flags statements that have no support.

What this means for a website owner

  • LexisNexis documents no crawler, user agent or robots.txt token for Lexis+ with Protégé. You cannot allow or block it in robots.txt.
  • LexisNexis does not say which search service or index supplies the web and news sources.
  • LexisNexis documents no way for a site owner to add pages to these sources or to remove pages from them.

LexisNexis content also goes into Harvey through an alliance that the two companies announced in June 2025. See Harvey AI. For another legal research tool, see Westlaw Edge AI.
